THE GROVE GALLERY PRESENTS THE SECOND-ANNUAL FOOD FOR THOUGHT EXHIBITION: A CELEBRATION OF CONTEMPORARY STILL LIFE PAINTING Opening Reception, Saturday, November 7th, 2 to 5 PM. Exhibition duration: 11/7 to11/29 2025 EVANSTON, IL —Food for Thought, 2.0 brings together a curated selection of works that masterfully capture the beauty of cuisine. The still life genre illustrates stories of meals shared, culinary pleasures and community. Such rituals are celebrated in trompe l’oeil paintings and drawings made from direct observation, which reveal tangible, poetic symphonies of color, shape and texture. Moving beyond mere replication, the featured artists explore themes of abundance, scarcity, and the intersection of art with the needs of the community. Through traditional oil techniques and contemporary perspectives, the artworks invite viewers to contemplate food insecurity. Over 20 percent of sales will be donated to the C and W Market Foundation and Evanston Grows, local causes which make nutritious food available to everyone who needs it.
